Things Which Matter Most

God has been drawing me close to Him, reminding me that nothing matters more than an abiding relationship with Him.
Nothing.

The temptation to let the circumstances of life fill my heart and mind, is constantly knocking. But no, nothing matters more than Jesus! When life is full, and it seems we don’t have enough time for all of it; when we’re tempted to skip over our quiet time with Jesus  and rush into our day, isn’t that really when we need that time with Him the most?

What is the first thing we fill our hearts and minds and time with? Little details? Laundry, cleaning, errands to run? What color to paint the kitchen or where to go on vacation? What should I wear, or what should we eat?

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ … your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” Matthew 6:31,32b

Perhaps we’re making time for bigger things. Our marriages? Our children? Teaching them well? Part time or full time jobs? Ministry? After all, ministry is certainly worthy of our time, right?

And yet, where will our relationship with Jesus fit into our time and our lives, if our hearts are first filled with details and even worthy callings?
When will we fill our hearts with Him?

First.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

When we place Him as first priority, spending time with Him each day, drawing near to Him in His Word and seeking to know Him more, He will uphold us and stretch our time so that every worthy calling will fit.

And because He is so good to us, when we place Jesus into our hearts first, He even makes room in our lives for the details.
Enjoying sweet fellowship with my Lord this morning.
